Latino Girl

30 x 45 cm (12 x 17 inches)

Acrylics on Illustration board

This was my very first photorealistic painting. I made it in October 2003 at the Blair School of Art during one of the workshops, a portrait class from Dru Blair.

The subtle texture on the skin was achieved by using different erasers on top of the various layers of paint.

The concept of working with opaque paint and applied color theory were unknown to me at the time. I learned a lot in a very short period of time.
